Turnaround

Delivery Reviews frequently identify discrete areas of the business transformation delivery that need to be re-aligned.

In some instances a focused Turnaround is required. More often than not, our clients do not want to label our support in this area as a ‘Turnaorund’ and we are comfortable respecting the sensitivities that come as part of the territory.

Yare Group does, however, provide straight talk about when a business transformation programme is in trouble and deliberate action needs to be taken.

Common signs that a programme is heading towards or is already in a crisis that requires a Turnaround effort include:

  • Increasingly delayed ‘sign-offs’ and decisions by senior leaders
  • Reputation of a programme ‘that has been going on forever’
  • Significant reduction in budgets
  • Lack of clear delivery accountability – ‘slopey shoulder syndrome’
  • Lack of clarity at all levels of the organisation of the benefits that will be delivered
  • Lack of clarity within the business of the way the transformation will impact their day to day operations

A successful Turnaround is based in the deployment of good disciplines.   Yare Group has developed a unique method for Turnarounds – Yare Turnaround Method™ – to augment our Yare Core Delivery Method™, in recognition of the additional activities required to successfully get the programme back on track.

As with all Yare Methods™, it is only a starting point. The real value comes from the experience base of our team in tackling some of the greatest challenges in a Turnaround:

  • Regaining the trust and support of senior leaders
  • Reenergizing (and recasting if neccessary) the core and extended delivery teams
  • Creating clarity for the business of the value and genuineness of the benefits of the transformation

Yare Group helps our clients regain control over the direction of their programmes. We also encourage our clients to implement an Assurance Framework going forward. Read more about Yare’s approach to Assurance.
